Licensing

I there, I'm looking at purchasing ZenPoint DigitalCenter but am a little hesitant due to the way the licensing works. I understand that the license file can only be used on tbe machine that activated it online, and if that machine dies, another license key needs to be issued. I'm fine with this however as I'm looking for a long time solution, I am curious to know what might happen should support stop for the product, or the company closes down. Would the product be useless if the computer dies again down the track and the company cannot be contacted for a new key?

Would appreciate any help with this query before I purchase :/)

Many thanks!

If it is machine related it must be tied to the mac address, this is the only thing I can think that would make it lock to that machine. If so you can "fake" or change the mac address via many apps largely due to this reason and that a lot of cheap hardware like network cards have only a limited set of macs they use and thus you sometimes end up with repeats.

I don't have an actual answer for you but this is what I would imagine happens

It doesn't go off of MAC address. I don't know how it works either, but I do know that a hard drive swap will cause you to need a new license file.
I thought my hard drive was dying and I bought a new one. I imaged everything over and it gave me a bad license file.
It was the HDD cable that needed to be replaced. The old HDD gave me a different license number than the new HDD. Both were the same brand and same size.

I purchased 3 copies of Zenpoint Digital Center licenses over a period of a few days in December and installed it on three computers with the appropriate license file installed on the desktop.  Since that time I upgraded one of my computers wiped my hard drive and installed new operating system XP to windows 7 64 bit , motherboard, etc and re-installed Zenpoint on my upgraded computer.  As result the program thinks its an invalid license. I should not have to buy another copy to fix this.  Please send me a license file that works or give me way to fix this or phone number to call.  I guess I should have read the fine print; oh that's right there wasn't any.  I didn't know this till after I purchased and upgraded my computer.  I have sent emails to technical support with no response and there are no phone numbers listed to call.  Gee I wonder why?  Other than this I like the product but don't like it enough to continue to use once the computers I installed them on are gone if is the way licenses work.  I should not have to purchase every time I updrate my computer or if the old one breaks and have to by a new one.  This is stupid.

Paul,
You don't have to purchase again.
Contact support and Rick (most likely him) will send you a new license file.
They may take a bit to respond, but they will.

By the way, i think I only had to wait 2 days for a new license file when I had to replaced my HDD.
